Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to attend the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok on November 30, according to foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen.
The upcoming summit in the Thai capital was highlighted during a discussion between the visiting Indian foreign secretary (east) Sourav Kumar and his Bangladesh counterpart Mr Momen on Thursday.
The talks centred on issues related to security and trade under BIMSTEC, said Mr Momen while talking to reporters after the meeting.
Issues related to the next general election in Bangladesh did not come up in the discussion, he added.
According to the secretary, Bangladesh is going to take over the BIMSTEC chair during the summit. An official from India will be its next secretary general.
Before the summit, he said, a meeting of the foreign ministers of BIMSTEC countries would be hosted in Bangkok on July 17.
