Police, BNP activists clash at Naya Paltan

Police have clashed with BNP activists outside the party’s headquarters in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan. The violence comes ahead of the party’s divisional rally in the capital on Saturday.

According to bdnews24.com, photos from the scene on Wednesday showed groups of police and activists charging at each other through the streets, a man being detained by police and fires ablaze on the road.

Traffic at the nearby Nightingale intersection came to a halt due to the violence.

No venue has been set for the Dec 10 rally yet, said Md Hayatul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner from the Motijheel Division of police.

Despite this, activists from the party blocked both sides of the road near its Naya Paltan headquarters on Thursday, he said.
