A total of 48 people were arrested from the capital on charge of consumption and carrying illegal drugs during a drive conducted by police in last 24 hours till 6:00am on Saturday.
During the drives, the law enforcers seized 16,431 contraband Yaba pills, 220.3 grams heroin (brown sugar), 4.675 kgs hemp and four bottles Phensidyl.
Local thana police and DB police conducted the anti-narcotics drive separately from 6:00 am on Friday.
A total of 38 cases were filed with local police stations in this connection.
Among the seized drugs, 10,000 yaba pills were seized from Dakkhin Jatrabari area on Friday .
Officer-in-Charge of Jatrabari police station Md Mazharul Islam said based on secret information, a team of the police station conducted a drive at Dakkhin Jatrabari area and seized the Yaba pills, reports UNB.
