The High Court (HC) has stayed a lower court order imposing a temporary ban on party activities of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman Ghulam Muhammad (GM) Quader.

A High Court division bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz passed the order after holding a hearing on a revision plea filed in this regard, reports BSS.

The High Court stayed the lower court order for eight weeks and also issued a rule, asking the authorities concerned as to why it shall not scrap that said order.

"Now there is no legal bar for him to observe the party activities," GM Quader's lawyer Sheikh Mohammad Sirajul Islam told newsmen.

Jatiya Party's suspended leader and former lawmaker Ziaul Haque Mridha filed a case against Quader on October 4 and the court on October 31 issued the initial order, asking Quader to refrain from party activities.

Dhaka 1st Joint District Judge Court on November 16, 2022, had scrapped a plea of Quader, challenging the earlier order in this regard. The court also set November 30 for submitting a reply in writing and holding a further hearing on the matter.
