Protestors have announced plans to hold a mass march to Bangabhaban and submit a memorandum to the President of Bangladesh on Sunday at 11:00 am. The announcement was made during a press conference at Dhaka University’s central library by Hasnat Abdullah, a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement.

The protestors also demanded the withdrawal of the police case filed against them within 24 hours, claiming it was based on false allegations. They called for accountability from the police regarding what they described as misleading claims.

During the press conference, the students declared their plans to issue a memorandum to the President and hold a mass march to Bangabhaban on Sunday, demanding the reformation of the quota system by passing a law in the parliament to abolish unreasonable and discriminatory quotas in all grades and bring the quota to a minimum level for the backward groups as per the constitution.

Sarjis Alam, another coordinator, stated that their movement would persist until logical quota reforms take place.

He called on the teachers to show solidarity with the students in their movement as they also support the teachers’ demand regarding the pension scheme. Such a situation should not happen where teachers would create pressure on the students to participate in class and examinations.

Another coordinator, Asif Mahmud, said police are inciting the students by obstructing their movement.
