Shikho receives fresh investment from SBL

Bangladeshi education technology (edtech) start-up Shikho, on Wednesday made an announcement of receiving a fresh round of strategic investment from the state-sponsored venture capital company Startup Bangladesh Limited (SBL).

The funding round also included participation from individual local investors.

Taking the latest investment into consideration, Shikho -- founded in 2019 -- has raised total funding of around US$ 8.0 million so far.

The announcement was made at a signing ceremony held in Dhaka, attended by Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, chairman of the board of directors at Startup Bangladesh, and secretary of the ICT Division, and Shahir Chowdhury, founder and CEO of Shikho, alongside other distinguished guests and stakeholders.

"Having the government's backing is a milestone moment," said Shahir Chowdhury, founder and CEO of Shikho. "It validates the work we've done so far, and more importantly, where we're headed. With AI accelerating, the potential to reinvent how students learn, while empowering teachers and transforming schools across Bangladesh, is now very real."

Shish Haider Chowdhury said "Shikho's work aligns perfectly with our ambition to foster digital learning solutions that are scalable, inclusive, and impactful. By backing homegrown innovators like Shikho, we are investing in the future of learning and ensuring that technology empowers every student across the nation."

The strategic collaboration between Startup Bangladesh and Shikho is expected to fast-track the development of AI-driven educational tools and content, with a focus on scaling access to quality academic learning in both urban and rural communities.

As the company continues to innovate, this funding will further catalyze its efforts to create an inclusive, modern, and mobile-first learning experience for millions of students nationwide.
