Three members of a family, including an engineering university student, were killed after being hit by a speeding truck in the capital's Uttara early Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Amit, 23, a student of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology and his relatives Naimul Haque, 32, and Javed Alam Khan 55.
The three victims were standing on the roadside at Azampur intersection under Uttara East Police Station around 2:00 am when the stone-laden truck from Mymensingh ran over them, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara East Police Station Md Golam Mostafa, as per a UNB report.
Two of them died on the spot while the third was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the OC said.
The bodies were kept at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The victims were returning home after visiting a patient at a nearby hospital.
