Two teens found dead in Narayanganj DND Lake

Police have recovered the bodies of two teenagers who went missing while bathing in the DND Lake in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj.

The bodies were recovered around 6:00 am on Tuesday, Siddhirganj Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Masum Billah said.

The two victims -- identified with single names as Monirul and Shuvo, both 15 years old -- had gone missing on Monday afternoon after entering the lake to bathe, according to locals.

Police said both boys were students in seventh grade at Godnail Bagpara Alim Madrasa.

SI Masum, citing witnesses and family members, said five friends had gone to the lake near the No. 1 bridge adjacent to Nayapara Barmastand on Monday afternoon after finishing their madrasa exams and playing football at the Navana field.

“After bathing, three of them returned home, but Monirul and Shuvo could not be found,” he added.

Family members searched different places throughout the night, but failed to trace the boys.

Locals spotted their bodies floating in the lake early on Tuesday morning and informed police.

SI Masum said the bodies were handed over to their families as no complaint was filed.
