The now-dissolved interim government’s chief adviser, Muhammad Yunus, is expected to vacate the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday.

Public Works Department Chief Engineer Md Khalekuzzaman Chowdhury said the Jamuna would be vacated on Saturday afternoon, according to bdnews24.com.

After taking the oath as the chief adviser of the now-dissolved interim government on August 8, 2024, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus started using the state guest house as his official residence.

Following a landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary election on February 12 this year, the BNP has formed the government, and BNP chairman Tarique Rahman took the oath of office as prime minister on February 17.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is currently staying at his private residence in Gulshan.

Several officials said Jamuna, located on the capital’s Hare Road, has been chosen as the prime minister’s official residence for security reasons and ease of access to the Secretariat.

Asked about the matter, Khalekuzzaman said: “The prime minister has expressed his intention to stay at Jamuna. It will take about a month to renovate the prime minister’s residence.”
