South Africa’s bowling attack topples Bangladesh’s top order

A top-order collapse has seen Bangladesh stagger to 60-6 before lunch in the first Test against South Africa in Mirpur, according to bdnews24.com.

A cautious Mahmudul Hasan Joy (16 off 86 balls) was the only one left standing as the attack of Wiaan Mulder (3-22), Kagiso Rabada (2-16), and Keshav Maharaj (1-16) ran rampant.

The wickets came thick and fast as Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Litton Das fell while still in single digits. Mushfiqur Rahim made it to 11 before he was bowled by Rabada.

Just as Joy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz seemed to be laying the groundwork for a solid stand, Maharaj trapped Miraz in front of the stumps.

The lunch break was called immediately after the dismissal.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first on Monday.
