Pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi became the third Bangladeshi bowler to pick up a T20 hat-trick after fast bowler Al-Amin Hossain and off-spinner Aliss Al Islam.
Playing for Fortune Barishal in Bangabandhu T20 Cup, Rabbi finished with 4-49 against Minister Group Rajshahi amid a monstrous innings of Rajshahi captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who struck 54 ball-109, with six galore on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
All of Kamrul Rabbi’s four wickets came in the last over, in which he gave 10 runs to resist aggressive Rajshahi batsmen piling up more runs, reports BSS.
Kamrul Rabbi’s four-wicket over is the second highest also after Al-Amin who took five wickets in a match.
In the Victory Day T20 Cup 2013-14 clash between Abahani Limited and UCB-BCB Eleven, fast bowler Al-Amin Hossain took five wickets, including a hat-trick in the last over of the match.
The match was held at Sylhet stadium, Bangladesh. All the five wickets by Al-Amin Hossain were catches. All of the four wickets of Kamrul Rabbi in the last over were also catches.
In that match, Al-Amin Hossain became the first player to have taken five wickets in an over in T20 cricket and also became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take a hat-trick.
The second hat-trick of any Bangladeshi bowler also came thanks to him, when slammed a hat-trick against Sylhet Super Stars playing for Barisal Bulls in a BPL match in 2015.
Off-spinner Aliss Al Islam took hat-trick on his T20 debut when he achieved the feat against Rangpur Riders, playing for Dhaka Dynamites in 2019.
