Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim have continued to stretch Bangladesh’s lead over Pakistan on Day 3 of the Sylhet Test.

The Tigers started the day with the unfortunate dismissal of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (15) - the hero of the first Test – who was trapped before the stumps by Khurram Shahzad.

But Litton (48*) and Mushfiqur (39*) have carried on admirably, building on the advantage from the first innings to take Bangladesh to 203/4 at lunch on Monday.

The 249-run lead gives the Tigers a substantial advantage going forward in what has been a low-scoring affair in the first two innings, bdnews24.com reports.

Bangladesh will look to capitalise on the opportunity and post a target that they can comfortably defend.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to field on the first day of the match. Despite limited success from the top order, a heroic 126 from Litton took the Tigers to 278 in the first innings.

Khurram (4-81) and Mohammad Abbas (3-45) were the most successful of the Pakistani bowlers,

While a returning Babar Azam (68) and Sajid Khan (38) offered some resistance, Bangladesh’s bowling attack took regular scalps to restrict the visitors to 232.

Taskin Ahmed (2-37) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2-21) harried their top order while Nahid Rana (3-60) and Taijul Islam (3-67) took out the tail enders.

Despite early dismissals for Tanzid Hasan (4) and Shanto (15), the Tigers have seemed more assured at bat in the second innings, with Mahmudul Hasan Joy (52), Litton and Mushfiqur racking up the runs.

If Bangladesh beat Pakistan, they will have whitewashed the series after their comfortable win in the Mirpur Test.
