It was a frustrating day as archers Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel and promising archer Diya Siddique lost their respective events of the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament for the Paris Olympics 2024 held in Bangkok on Saturday.
In the recurve men’s singles elimination round, Rubel lost his Chinese counterpart Kwok Yin by 6-5 points in the quarterfinal after the first stage ended by a 5-5 draw.
To decide the result, both of them shot one arrow each. Rubel scored nine while Kwok Yin scored nine, which means Rubel was defeated as his arrow was far away from the centre point.
In the recurve women’s singles elimination round, Diya Siddique lost to her Malaysian rival Mohamad Zairi Ariana Nur Dania by 6-4 points. The Bangladesh archery team is expected to return home tomorrow (Sunday).
