Linde secured a 6 per cent year-on-year growth in profit to Tk 107 million in the second quarter through June this year even after lower sales.
Its revenue dropped 3.24 per cent year-on-year to Tk 537 million in the quarter to June.
A reduction in operating expenses after the sale of its welding business and foreign exchange gains helped make a higher profit in Q2 this year, compared to the same quarter last year.
Linde Bangladesh sold its welding business subsidiary -- Linde Industries Pvt Ltd in September last year to American-Swedish industrial company ESAB Group for Tk 7.72 billion.
It has already disbursed around Tk 6.85 billion to its shareholders in cash dividends from the sale proceeds of the welding business.
The company disbursed the record 4,500 per cent cash dividends for 2024.
Linde had sold its welding electrode business as it stumbled upon extreme volatility amid higher input costs due to fluctuations in international raw material prices. The business unit used to generate more than half of the company's total revenue until 2022.
Its half-yearly profit dropped 5.0 per cent to Tk 188 million in January-June this year while sales fell 5.0 per cent to Tk 1.08 billion during the period.
Linde did good business in 2021, particularly in the medical segment, as the need for medical oxygen shot up for Covid patients dealing with breathing distress in hospitals.
As the pandemic waned and raw material prices skyrocketed due to the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, revenue from the segment started falling.
Meanwhile, the stock of Linde fell 2.20 per cent to Tk 992.4 per share on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Thursday.
