CHATTOGRAM: A total of 22 energy vessels loaded with LNG, LPG and refined fuel products have reached the Chittagong port in the current month.

The ships berthed at the port in the first 17 days. Besides, four more ships are scheduled to arrive in the days ahead. According to port data, at least four more energy vessels are currently on the route to Chattogram. These include LNG carriers Lebrethah from Qatar and Prachi from Australia, the latter carrying around 74,929 MT of LNG, along with HSFO tankers Lady of Doria and SC Gold Ocean from Singapore.

Sources said additional vessels were scheduled to arrive later in March, including Sonagol Benguela (LNG) from Angola, AB Olivia (base oil) from Thailand, and LPG carriers BWEK Bornholm and another Morning Jane.

According to the Secretary of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), Refayat Hamim, fuel handling operations at Chittagong port are continuing smoothly, with two more fuel-laden vessels set to enhance the ongoing supply. All necessary measures have been taken by CPA to ensure uninterrupted unloading and distribution of fuel. The continued arrival of vessels would help stabilise the national fuel supply, he added.

The vessels, 'Chang Hang Hong Tu' and 'LPG Seven', are currently in the process of discharging cargo and are expected to complete their operations by Wednesday and Friday respectively, helping ensure a steady fuel supply across the country.

The arrivals underline a steady flow of energy imports despite heightened geopolitical tensions affecting global shipping routes.
