Bangladesh Business Summit all set to begin tomorrow

The three-day event is expected to act as a mega platform with huge opportunities for local and foreign businesses

All preparations have been completed for the Bangladesh Business Summit-2023 that will begin tomorrow (Saturday) at Banga-bandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the mega event.

Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman MP, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, and Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen will be present at the inauguration.

Over 200 business leaders and investors from around the world will join the summit organised by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce (FBCCI).

The business summit will continue until March 13.

President of the Federation Md Jashim Uddin came up with the information at a press conference held at FBCCI office in the city on Thursday.

He said this summit will play an important role in Bangladesh's economic potential, trade expansion and new investment growth.

Ministers from seven countries including the United Kingdom (UK), Saudi Arabia, China, Bhutan, United Arab Emirates, CEOs of 12 multinational companies and more than 200 foreign investors and business leaders from 17 countries of the world will participate in the summit.

Mentioning the business summit as a means for branding of the country, the FBCCI President said Bangladesh has immense potential for investment. A total of 750 people have already registered to attend the summit, he added. "The business representatives are participating from the country and abroad paying a good amount of registration fee. It means people are very interested in the business environment of Bangladesh. They want to start their business here. We have to take this opportunity," he said.

Mr Jashim Uddin further said the three-day long summit that is expected to draw attention of business leaders and investors from Bangladesh as well as abroad will emerge as a mega platform for creating new business opportunities.

He said business leaders, policymakers, heads of business delegations and representatives of international organisations will hold talks on Bangladesh and global economy at the business summit, which will pave the way for increasing investment and accelerating economic growth in Bangladesh.

The organisers believe that FBCCI's business summit in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority will help boost economic capacity of Bangladesh and create new investment opportunities and expand business in the country.

FBCCI Senior Vice President Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Vice Presidents MA Momen, Md Amin Helaly, Salahuddin Alamgir, Md. Habib Ullah Dawn, MA Razzak Khan Raj, directors, and other business leaders were present at the press briefing.
