BRAC Bank recently organised two remittance awareness conferences in Lalmonirhat and Naogaon, reinforcing its commitment to promoting formal banking channels for inward remittances.
The events, held at the Patgram Agent Banking Outlet in Lalmonirhat and the Palashbari Agent Banking Outlet in Naogaon, brought together expatriate families and local community members for interactive sessions, according to a media release.
The discussions centred on the safety and transparency of formal banking channels compared to the high risks associated with informal channels like hundi.
Bank officials emphasised that using legal channels not only protects individual funds but also strengthens the nation’s foreign exchange reserves and overall economic stability.
A key highlight of the sessions was the introduction of BRAC Bank’s Probashi Poribar accounts.
Tailored specifically for expatriates and their families, these accounts offer seamless access to savings and financial services, helping households build long-term financial resilience.
Bank representatives also encouraged beneficiaries to practice prudent financial management.
Rather than focusing solely on immediate consumption, they advised customers to invest remittance funds into education, small businesses, and asset creation to drive sustainable growth, the release adds.
