Branch-based banking resumes at Al-Arafah Islami Bank from 5 february following CBS upgradation

After the successful completion of the Core Banking System (CBS) upgrade program at Al-Arafah Islami Bank, only cash transactions and branch-based banking services will resume from Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The Core Banking System upgrade has been undertaken to enhance technological capacity, build a modern banking infrastructure, and ensure safer, faster, and uninterrupted banking services for customers, according to a media release. 

The CBS upgrade program has been implemented in line with the ongoing technology-driven transformation in the banking sector, with the objective of providing international-standard banking services. As a result, the bank’s information technology infrastructure has been further strengthened, and its capacity to deliver future-oriented digital banking services has increased significantly.

With the approval of Bangladesh Bank, the CBS upgrade program at Al-Arafah Islami Bank commenced on January 30, 2026.

During the system upgrade process, the highest level of security for customers’ financial information was ensured by strictly adhering to international-standard cybersecurity and data protection policies.

As a result of the modernization of the Core Banking System, the bank’s overall operations have become more dynamic, transparent, secure, and customer-friendly.

At the same time, transaction speed has increased, service quality has improved, risk management capabilities have been enhanced, and an improved digital banking experience for customers has been ensured, the release adds.
