Crown Cement hosts seminar on 'Ready Mix Concrete in Bangladesh: Challenges & Opportunities'

Crown Cement PLC successfully organized a seminar titled “Ready Mix Concrete in Bangladesh: Challenges & Opportunities” on January 24, 2026 (Saturday), at Le Méridien, Dhaka, bringing together eminent academicians, industry experts, and professionals to discuss the present landscape and future prospects of the Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) sector in Bangladesh.

The seminar highlighted the growing importance of RMC in ensuring quality construction, sustainability, and efficiency in national infrastructure development. Distinguished guests shared their expertise on technological advancements, regulatory frameworks, quality assurance, and the role of innovation in addressing industry challenges, according to a media release. 

Renowned academician Professor Dr. M. Shamim Z. Bosunia, PEng. graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Keynote Address was delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin, PEng., Professor, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT).

The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Raquib Ahsan, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

In his keynote presentation, Professor Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin emphasized the critical role of Ready Mix Concrete in modern construction, outlining key challenges such as maintain specification, quality control, skilled manpower, and standardization, while also identifying opportunities for sustainable growth through innovation and adherence to global best practices.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Guest Professor Dr. M. Shamim Z. Bosunia underscored the need for stronger collaboration between academia and industry to ensure resilient and future-ready infrastructure in Bangladesh.

Crown Cement also showcased its forward integration initiatives through Crown Cement Concrete & Building Products Ltd., established in 2013, which has become a significant contributor to the RMC sector. With operations across Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Munshiganj, and Chattogram, the company ensures seamless supply chain integration from cement production to concrete placement.

In line with global trends toward green construction, Crown Cement recently introduced Crown Cement Concrete Blocks, offering eco-friendly alternatives to traditional clay bricks, including solid blocks and uni-pavers designed for durability, cost efficiency, and reduced environmental impact.
