The indefinite strike called by the Chittagong Port Protection Struggle Council has been suspended after the interim government announced it would not proceed with handing over operations of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) to UAE-based DP World.

On Monday at 12:30 am, Md Ibrahim Khokon, one of the council's coordinators, confirmed the decision to suspend the strike, bdnews24.com reports.

The strike had started earlier on Sunday morning, with four demands, including the cancellation of the NCT lease to the foreign company.
