The 18th edition of the Bangladesh Denim Expo commenced on Monday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, aiming to help the industry enhance its capacity and foster innovation to navigate the uncertain times of tariffs and trade wars.
A total of 57 exhibitors from 13 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, China, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Vietnam, and the USA, participated in the two-day show to showcase their products.
Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing apparel exporter to the United States in the first quarter of 2025, recording the highest year-on-year growth of 26.64 per cent, said Mostafiz Uddin, founder and CEO of the Bangladesh Denim Expo.
This performance positioned Bangladesh ahead of other major exporters such as India, Pakistan, Vietnam, and China at a time when the US market is volatile due to the imposition of global reciprocal tariffs by the Trump Administration, he noted.
There were two panel discussions during the two-day event: one on “The Growth of the Bangladesh Denim Industry Through the Perspective of Denim Washing” and another on “The Stretchability and Traceability of Bangladesh Denim”, aimed at developing the capacity of both professionals and the industry.
