EBL becomes first bank in Bangladesh to adopt Starlink services

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has made history by becoming the first bank in Bangladesh to establish connectivity through Starlink satellite communication, ushering in a new era of innovation, resilience, and efficiency in the nation’s financial technology landscape.

The official launch ceremony was held today at the bank’s head office in Dhaka, marking a strategic collaboration between EBL and Starlink, the global satellite internet service provider by SpaceX, according to a press release. 

The event was attended by Ahmed Shaheen, Additional Managing Director; Osman Ershad Faiz, Additional Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer; Zahidul Haque, Chief Technology Officer of EBL; and Sharful Alam, Chief Executive Officer of Felicity IDC (Starlink service provider in Bangladesh), alongside senior executives from both organizations.
