The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has made film actor Ferdous Ahmed its goodwill ambassador, aiming to strengthen the government's Safe Food campaign.

An agreement signing ceremony was held on Thursday in this regard, organised by the BFSA at its office in Dhaka city.

BFSA Chairman Abdul Kywom Sarker presided over the ceremony.

Ferdous Ahmed, a popular actor in Bangladesh, expressed his pride in being appointed as the goodwill ambassador of this government organisation.

"I feel a responsibility towards contributing to the food security of the country," he said.

Ferdous hopes he can use his popularity to raise awareness about food safety.

The BFSA chairman said Ferdous has joined the authority to work with them on very simple terms.

The contract is for one year, with hopes of extending it for a longer period, he said.

The authority aims to educate and create awareness among the people about food safety through training.

"We hope that Ferdous Ahmed will be able to make a significant contribution towards our cause," he added.
