Gold prices in Bangladesh will rise to a record high from Thursday after the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced a fresh adjustment, citing higher costs of pure gold in the local market.
The price of 22-carat hallmarked gold will increase by Tk 3,444 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 178,832, BAJUS said in a statement issued late on Wednesday.
Other categories will also see increases. From Thursday, 21-carat gold will cost Tk 170,703 per bhori, 18-carat will be Tk 146,313, and gold produced by the traditional method will be Tk 121,166.
As of Wednesday, 22-carat hallmarked gold was selling at Tk 175,788 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 167,798, 18-carat at Tk 143,829 and traditional method gold at Tk 119,043, BAJUS said.
