Industries minister suggests continuing works for country’s sake

The Ministry of Industries (MoI) on Thursday urged its departments and industrial units concerned to continue the works for the sake of the country’s economy during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It also decided to continue its ongoing development project works despite Covid-19 disease.

 “We (MoI) need to continue our works in line with the Prime Minister directives by maintaining health safety guidelines during the ongoing Covid-19 disease,” Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said at a meeting at the conference room of the ministry.  

He urged the fertiliser factories under Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) to gearing up the production of fertiliser by keeping health safety guidelines.

He laid emphasis on supplying one million tonnes of fertiliser that are now being stored at BCIC fertiliser factories to the farmers quickly for increasing agricultural products.

He also urged the authority of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) to quickly sale out stocked sugar at state-owned sugar mills.

State Minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said the managing directors of state-run sugar mills could neither appoint anyone nor give job temporary or permanent without  permission from BSFIC

He suggested purchasing salt directly from the farmers by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation.

Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim and high officials of departments concerned were present, among others.
