Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi urged the Bangladesh Competition Commission to carry out its duty properly to ensure fair competition in the market so that people can buy products at the fair and stable price.
“The commission has to discharge its duty in such a way that no one can harm the consumer by carrying out evil acts”, he said.
The minister also said the price of the products would remain stable if healthy competition was ensured in the market.
His call and view came on Thursday at a seminar titled ‘Ensuring Fair Competition in the Market to Protect the Interests of Businessmen and Customers’ at the TCB auditorium in the capital organised by the Bangladesh Competition Commission.
The commission chairperson Md Mofizul Islam chaired the seminar.
In respect of onion, the minister also claimed that the price of onion reduced in the markets as the supply increased and onion was available at local markets.
