The government will sit with the traders, associations and other stakeholders next week to fix the prices of sacrificial animals' rawhides to be collected during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, said sources.

"The meeting is supposed to be held on Sunday next (June 25) at the commerce ministry with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the chair.

It will set the prices of rawhides and skins of sacrificial animals during the festival," an additional secretary of the MoC told the FE.

"We're considering fixing fair rawhide prices for every Eid-ul-Azha to satisfy both owners of sacrificial animals and traders," he added.

During the last Eid-ul-Azha in 2022, the government had increased the price of rawhide of sacrificial cattle by Tk 7.0 per square foot (salt-applied) across the country compared to the prices in 2021.
