Pubali Bank holds Tree Plantation Program at Dhaka University

Pubali Bank PLC initiated Tree Plantation Program-2024 at the University of Dhaka as a part of CSR program under the overall supervision of the Banking and Insurance Department.

Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University was present as Chief Guest, according to a media release. 

Mohammad Ali, Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Plc was present as Special Guest.

Banking and Insurance Department Chairman Professor Dr. Hasina Sheykh presided over the event. Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education); Mahmood Osman Imam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies along with Provost of various halls, Dean of various faculties, teachers and students and Senior Executives of Pubali Bank were present.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan said, "Emphasis should be placed on creating public awareness about environmental protection and strengthening research activities in this regard. For this purpose research funds should be increased. Industry-academia must work in unison using the specialized knowledge of educational and research institutions."

Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Mohammad Ali said, "We have to be more conscious in protecting the environment to save ourselves as well as the development of the society. In this regard, plantation programs and voluntary activities should be strengthened and investments should be increased."

Speakers in the discussion meeting emphasized the elimination of foreign trees and planting of indigenous trees. Apart from planting trees, proper care and preservation of trees is also highlighted.

After the ceremony, saplings were planted in the business studies faculty premises, the release adds.
