'Steps taken to make state-owned industrial units profitable'

The government has taken measures to make state-owned industrial units profitable through bringing necessary reforms, said Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun.

“We have taken measures to make the state-owned industrial units vibrant and profitable,” he said at a joining programme of newly appointed Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam at the industries ministry (MoI) on Wednesday.

The industries minister said the activities taken by the MoI have got vigor for creating new employment.

He said the industrial units under the industries ministry have been running amid the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic by maintaining health safety guidelines.

“We (the government) also have been providing supports to the private-owned industrial units to continue production by maintaining health safety guidelines during the pandemic,” he said.

He said the government is working relentlessly by keeping a combination of lives/ life and livelihoods during the Covid-19 disease.

Mr Humayun said following the measures of the government some sick industrial units got back on the track of making profits.

“We are also working seriously to reopen the closed or shut state-owned industrial units,” the industries minister also mentioned.

He called upon the officials and employees of the ministry to work sincerely for achieving the Vision 2021and 2041 of the government.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and the outgoing industries secretary Md Abdul Halim were present, among others.
