Bangladesh Bank (BB) is set to release a new 10-taka denomination banknote on Tuesday as part of its new series titled “Historical and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh.”
The new note, bearing the signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, will be issued initially from the central bank’s Motijheel office on Tuesday and will subsequently be available at all other offices of the bank.
Measuring 123 mm x 60 mm, the new banknote features pink as its predominant colour.
The front side of the note depicts the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka on the left, with the national flower, the water lily, prominently featured in the center. The back of the note carries an image titled ‘Graffiti-2024’.
According to the central bank, all currently circulating 10-taka paper notes and metal coins will remain legal tender alongside the new version.
Bangladesh Bank has already initiated the printing of this new series for all denominations (1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, and 2 Taka). Notes for the 1000, 500, 100, 50, and 20 Taka denominations have already been released into the market.
For currency collectors, specimen notes (which are not for exchange) have also been printed. These can be purchased at a fixed price from the Taka Museum located in Mirpur, Dhaka.
