The Awami League-nominated candidates have won the maximum number of constituencies in 12th parliamentary elections, held on Sunday, according to unofficial results.
The wins have paved the way for AL President Sheikh Hasina, the incumbent premier, to become the prime minister of Bangladesh for fifth time and to form the government for fourth consecutive term.
From 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, voters in 299 constituencies, out of total 300, cast their votes in 12th parliamentary elections.
Till the filling of the report, results of 280 constituencies out of 299 were available on television channels.
The candidates nominated by the ruling party have got win in 217 constituencies, out of the announced seats. Independent candidates won in 52 constituencies, Jatiya Party candidates in 11 seats and a candidate from another party won in a seat.
