The ship building industry of the country earned $ 150 million of foreign exchange in last five years by exporting 40 ships to different countries.
This was informed by managing director of Western Marine Ship Yard Limited (WMSYL) Sakhawat Hossain while addressing the handing over ceremony of an offshore petrol vessel "Doria", built for Kenya by his company.
The 54.70 metre long vessel "Doria" is a rocket-like ship which can run 35 nautical miles per hour.
The vessel which will ply on India Ocean in the South Africa will be used by the Blue Economy wing of the ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Livestock Resources Ministry of Kenyan government.
