BD needs to enhance project implementation capacity: ADB

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday said Bangladesh needs to enhance its project implementation capacity to get extended financial support from the bank.

“Bangladesh is doing well in economic development. When an economy will develop, many investors will come for investment. So, you require to develop your infrastructure with enhanced project execution capacity,” said Mr Hun Kim, Director General (DG) of South Asia Department of ADB.

He was addressing a press briefing on the sidelines of the 52nd ADB Annual Meeting, which kicked off on Wednesday, at Nadi in Fiji.

When asked about the regional energy cooperation, Mr Kim said after the transportation system improvement, the ADB is very eager to support Bangladesh and its neighbors for the regional energy connectivity.

 “We know that as the Bangladesh’s economy is growing as well pace, its demand of energy is growing. So, ADB is ready to support further for improving its energy supply situation,” he said.

Some seminars and discussions were held in Nadi on Wednesday on the occasion of the 52nd annual meeting of board of governors of the Manila-based multilateral lending agency.
