Experts call for consolidation and good governance to resolve banking sector crisis

Some banks were left in miserable situations during the last regime due to corruption and irregularities.

Now, there is no alternative but to consolidate them and restore good governance in the banking sector.

This observation was made at a session titled "Bank Crisis, Reforms & Regulations – The Implications on Bank Governance" on the second day of the two-day International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT) 2025, held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU).

Dhaka University and the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) jointly organised the conference.

Managing Director (MD) of Bank Asia Sohail R. K. Hussain, MD & CEO of City Bank Mashrur Arefin, Managing Director MD & CEO, Pubali Bank Mohammad Ali, spoke on the occasion.

Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Professor Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam chaired the session.
