The government has a plan to develop an economic zone at the gas-rich Bhola district as many reputed companies have expressed their desire to set up industries in Bhola.
Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan and Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin made the assurance while attending a view-exchange meeting here this afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of Bhola M Azad Jahan presided over the meeting.
Earlier, the three advisers also visited the land where urea fertilizer factory will be set up through using the natural gas.
The government will not provide gas for household purpose, said the power, energy and mineral resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan.
The adviser assured that the construction of Bhola-Barishal bridge will start after conducting feasibility study again, reports BSS.
Bhola district BNP convener Golam Nabi Alamgir, senior joint convener Shafiur Rahman Kiron, member secretary Raisul Alam, joint convener Humayun Kabir Sopan, Islamic Andolon general secretary Tariqul Islam, young entrepreneur Engineer Hedayat Ali Arun, among others, attended the view-exchange meeting.
The natural gas is not available at various places across the country but it is available in Bhola and we can exploit it for the country, said the industry adviser to the journalists following the meeting.
“We can manufacture fertilizer from the gas and that’s why we have come to Bhola to see the feasibility for setting up a fertilizer factory here”, the adviser told the journalists.
The secretaries of the respective ministries and other senior officials also were present during the visit.
Prior to the meeting, the three advisers also visited Shahbajpur gas field under Bhorhanuddin upazila this morning.
According to the data of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX), Bhola’s proven gas reserve stands at 2.24 trillion cubic feet (TCF)
