Former central bank governor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin said keeping inflation at a moderate level is good for the economy.
"Some 5.0-8.0 per cent inflation is considered a moderate rate, and it is good to keep the inflation at that rate," he said at an event at the Bangladesh Bank (BB).
The BB Welfare Council organised the event at Banking Hall in the central bank building on Sunday with its president H M Delwar Hossain in the chair.
Mr Farashuddin claimed that Bangladesh's economy is at the top position in Asia, and none of the South Asian countries can stand in front of Bangladesh.
In the event, BB Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder said he has taken many steps for welfare of the BB officials.
If the environment of workplace is not good, the productivity of employees goes down, he added.
