Finance Minister AMA Muhith left Dhaka for USA on Sunday to attend the Springs Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group in Washington DC.
An Emirates Airlines flight carrying the minister took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 7:30pm, said Md Shahedur Rahman, Senior Information Officer of the Finance Ministry.
During his stay in the US, Muhith will also join different programmes in New York, he said, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir and Economic Relations Division Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam were accompanying him.
The Finance Minister is expected to return home on April 27.
