‘Public accounts system should be reformed following global standard’

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has said the country’s public accounts system should be reformed in line with international standards of accounting.

“There is a need to reform the public accounting system in line with international standards and demand of development partners,” he said.

The minister came up with the statement while addressing an event marking the 51st anniversary of the establishment of The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (OCAG) on Saturday.

During the event, the finance minister launched special three-day services.

Speaking at the event as chief guest, the finance minister said the department has been undergoing modernization and automation to ensure transparency.

Secretary at Finance Division Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh also spoke at the event.
