S Korean co to set up jewellery industry in Uttara EPZ

South Korean company Smile Arts Co., Ltd. is going to set up a jewellery manufacturing industry in Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ), reports BSS.

To this end, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed an agreement with the company at BEPZA Complex in the city on Tuesday, said a press release.

The company will invest US$ 2.0 million to produce annually 40 million units of Costume Jewellery, Sterling Silver Jewellery and Gemstone Jewellery where 300 Bangladeshi nationals will get employment opportunities.

Ali Reza Mazid, member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA and Shin Hyoung Ki, managing director of Smile Arts Co. Ltd., signed the agreement in presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Maj Gen Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.

Among others, Member (Finance) Nafisa Banu, Executive Director (Administration) Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Executive Director (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir and Additional Executive Director Md Fazlul Haque Mazumder were present.
