The government has proposed an allocation of Tk 1.25 billion in the upcoming fiscal year to boost economic empowerment and improve the business environment for women entrepreneurs, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed announced.

He said ensuring women’s rights, safety, and economic independence remains a top priority.

As part of these efforts, accommodation is being arranged for 1,399 women, and skill development training is underway through the National Academy for Women Training and Development and local women's training centres, he stated.

A total of 10,455 women entrepreneurs have received trade-based training under the Joyeeta Foundation’s capacity-building project.

Under the Vulnerable Women Benefit (VWB) programme, another 20,000 women have been trained to promote empowerment and alleviate poverty.

The government has also trained 732,450 adolescents under the Adolescent Club project to raise awareness about child marriage prevention, gender-based violence, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

To improve access to finance, dedicated women entrepreneur desks have been set up in all bank and financial institution branches. A Tk 300 billion refinance scheme has also been launched, allowing women to borrow up to Tk 2.5 million without collateral.
