Benazir, family members withdraw Tk 127.3 million in eight days

Former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed and his family members have withdrawn Tk 127.3 million in eight days from his accounts at Sonali Bank and Community Bank.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) mentioned the information in a report that is scheduled to be submitted before High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ebadot Hossain on Monday, a local newspaper said.

The report said ACC started investigation into the wealth owned by Benazir and his family members on April 22 amid allegations of acquiring illegal wealth beyond known sources.

The investigation found withdrawals of Tk 127.3 million from the accounts of Benazir and his family members between April 23 to 30.
