Biman Bangladesh Airlines Sunday started operation of its third weekly flight to Jeddah from port city Chittagong.
The national flag carrier's flight no BG 135 took off Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport on boarding 402 passengers by Boeing 777-300 ER at 8 pm, a press release said here.
Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh A M Mosaddique Ahmed inaugurated the flight at the airport.
Prior the flight at a press briefing, Mosaddique said Biman Bangladesh flight increased the flight frequency on Chittagong-Jeddah-Chittagong route as huge number of expatriate Bangladeshi manpower of Middle East are from Chittagong, reports BSS.
Currently, he said, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates flights from Chittagong to different middle eastern destinations - weekly five flights to Dubai, five flights to Abu Dhabi, four flights to Masqat, three flights to Jeddah and one flight to Doha.
Besides, he said, Biman operates two weekly flights from Chittagong to Kolkata in convenience of the business travelers as well as tourists.
During the summer schedule, Biman increased its flights from Chittagong. From today, Biman will operate weekly 18 international flights instead of existing 17 and 32 domestic fights instead of 29 from Chittagong, he added.
