Budget session of parliament to be held on Jun 7

The second session of the 13th national parliament will be held on Sunday, Jun 7, at 3 pm.

President Md Shahabuddin has called the session under the powers granted in clause 1 of Article 72 of the Constitution. According to a notice from the Parliament Secretariat on Thursday.

The notice said, “By virtue of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, I, the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Md Shahabuddin, hereby convene the second session (2026 Budget) of the 13th Parliament on Sunday, Jun 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the Parliament Chamber of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, the 24th Jyoishtho of the Bengali Year 1433.”

This will be the second session of the 13th parliament. The notification refers to it as the 2026 Budget Session.

The first session of the 13th parliament ended on Apr 30 with the passage of a total of 94 bills and the introduction of 133 ordinances.

Seven committees were formed in that 25-day session and 280 members participated in the discussion on the president’s speech. Of the committees, five are standing committees and two are special committees.
