Bangladesh would be a zero-hunger country by 2030 overcoming all odds and obstacles, speakers made the remark in a seminar held on Tuesday.

Challenges are huge to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) as country’s arable lands are decreasing and population are increasing day by day, they said.

The speakers shared their insights while addressing a seminar on Role and Measures of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) to achieve the SDGs.

Mohammed Mohsin, director general of the DAE, chaired the event, while Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, senior secretary of ministry of agriculture, was present as the chief guest.

The high officials of the DAE and the ministry, among others, also attended the function.

In the seminar, they said that out of the 17 goals and 169 targets of the SDGs, 9 goals and 30 targets are associated with the department.

The DAE is taking different programmes to ensure the safe productivity of food and nutrition across the country, they added.
