Death toll from blast at Gulistan building reaches eight

More than 100 others were injured

At least eight people have been killed and over 100 people injured in an explosion at a building in Dhaka's Gulistan area on Tuesday evening, according to local news outlets.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

UNB said the explosion occurred around 4:50 pm near BRTC bus counter in Gulistan. On information, eleven units of fire service rushed to the spot and started the rescue operations.

According to fire service officials, two buildings were damaged after the explosion.
