Indonesian foreign tourist arrivals drift up in January

The number of foreign holiday makers visiting Indonesia in the first month of this year expanded 5.22 per cent to 1.16 million people year-over-year with Chinese tourist contributing the most to the hike, national statistics bureau said on Friday.

According to the bureau officials, in Bali Resort Island, the centre of the Indonesian tourism industry, the number of foreign tourist arrivals grew 15.23 per cent to 743,349 people year-on-year, reports Xinhua.

China, followed by Malaysia, Timor Leste, Singapore and Australia, is the most contributive nation to the Indonesian foreign tourist arrivals in January, according to the bureau.

Indonesia logged a 12.58 per cent growth to 15.81 million people in foreign tourist arrivals last year, missing a target of 17 million people, it said.
