The producer price index (PPI) for local production in Malaysia decreased by 1.4 per cent year-on-year in April, official data showed Wednesday.
According to Malaysian Statistics Department, the fall was mainly dragged by agriculture, forestry and fishing index which slumped 11.9 per cent year-on-year, reports Xinhua.
Meanwhile, water supply and manufacturing index also dropped 2.6 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively.
However, the index of electricity and gas supply as well as mining increased by 1.5 per cent and 1.4 per cent respectively.
As compared to the previous month, the producer price index for local production rose 0.6 per cent in April, driven by index of mining, agriculture, forestry and fishing, as well as water supply.
For the period of January to April, the producer price index for local production contracted 2.0 per cent year-on-year.
