The country’s headline inflation rate surged in October, driven by higher prices for onions, eggs, potatoes, and rice.
On Thursday, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released the October inflation data, reporting a rise to 10.87 percent on a point-to-point basis—an increase of nearly 1.0 percentage point from September’s figure.
Food inflation at the national level reached 12.66 per cent in October, while non-food inflation stood at 9.34 per cent.
However, non-food inflation showed a decline compared to the September 2024 period.
