The metro rail has resumed its service after a two-day closure on Thursday, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Friday, the weekly holiday of the train service.
The metro rail services resumed its service at Uttara station at 7:10 am, as per schedule, according to local media reports.
Earlier on Wednesday (April 10), Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited’s (DMTCL) Deputy Manager Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan told the media that there would be no extra hours of operations, which was extended for the last 15 days of Ramadan.
The last metro train will leave Uttara at 8:00 pm and the last train from Motijheel will go to Uttara at 8:40 pm from today.
The number of passengers increased after the extension of service by one hour at the end of March, he said.
The operator said an average of 246,000 passengers used metro rail every day during Ramadan.
Before Ramadan, the number was around 295,000. On certain days, the number even reached as high as 300,000.
