The government agencies have failed to implement even half of their development work in the first 10 months of this fiscal year (FY) 2023-24, officials said on Monday.

More than 50 per cent of the development work under the current Annual Development Programme (ADP) will have to be executed in two months  -- May and June, they added.

Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) data, released Monday, showed that the government ministries and agencies implemented only 49.26 per cent of the Tk 2.54 trillion revised ADP during the July-April period.

In the same period of last FY2023, the ADP execution rate was 50.33 per cent of the Tk 2.36 trillion revised ADP (RADP).

During the first 10 months, the government ministries and agencies spent Tk 1.25 trillion, or 49.26 percent, of their Tk 2.54 trillion RADP, the IMED data showed.

Meanwhile, the ADP execution got a bit of momentum in the previous month of March after a long-struggling performance over the early months of this fiscal.

The government agencies and ministries had implemented 42.30 per cent of the Tk 2.756 trillion ADP during the July–March period of the current fiscal year (FY) 2023-24, officials said.

In the same period of last FY2023, the agencies implemented 41.65 per cent of the ADP.

The ADP execution rate till February (Jul-Feb) this fiscal was the lowest in 14 years.
